How do I check an LPG cylinder for a leak?
Brush soapy water over the regulator and the hose joint. Bubbles mean a leak. Never use a match or a lighter to test for gas.
Where should a cylinder be stored?
Upright, on the ground floor, in a ventilated place. Never in a basement — LPG is heavier than air and settles low.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Close the regulator, open the windows, do not touch any electrical switch, leave the room, and call us from outside.
How often should the regulator and hose be replaced?
Replace the hose every five years, or immediately if it is stiff, cracked or perished.
Is it safe to move a cylinder in a car?
Carry it upright and secured, keep a window open, and never leave it in a closed car in the sun.
Everyday checks
- Turn the regulator off at night and when you leave the house.
- Keep the hose away from the flame and from any hot surface.
- Never use a cylinder lying on its side.
- Keep the kitchen ventilated while cooking.
